Sea views, sultry suites and smart cars in Ibiza

I’d never been to Ibiza before. I’d heard stories. All kinds of stories. But I always kept an open mind.

When I finally visited this Summer I was pleasantly surprised. This sun-drenched Spanish island exceeded all my expectations, leaving me craving for more.

A plethora of excitable thoughts journeyed through my mind as the taxi slowly halted on arrival at the pristine glass doors of the ultra chic, brand spanking new OD Talamanca Hotel – strikingly contemporary in design and extremely easy on the eye.

The property features 117 rooms with balconies boasting stunning sea views, overlooking the iconic Talamanca bay, Ibiza’s old town and the harbour offering superb sunsets and sunrises over the Mediterranean Sea.

Smiling, welcoming porters greeted me, hastily relieving me of my overpacked suitcases before I was offered a complementary glass of Prosecco as I awaited check in at the plush lobby bar.

As I was taken on a brief tour of this latest Ibizan gem I noticed how the Mediterranean moorish blues and whites complimented the modern wooden decor throughout the hotel – creating a fresh, modern effect.

Shockingly brazen, yet fun contemporary artworks adorned the walls, reminding guests exactly where in the world they were –  just incase they had momentarily forgotten.

The overall ambience of OD Talamanca exuded a nicely balanced feeling of excitement with a calm juxtaposition. It was easy to see why all rooms were fully booked.

Fortunately, my Ibizan haven was one of the superior suites, sporting splendid views of the swimming pools and azure, yacht-covered sea. My rooms were furnished with all the amenities one could want, including a mini bar, flat screen smart television, and room service at my fingertips.

Cocktail in hand, I made my way to the Balinese style beach beds by one of the three hotel swimming pools to lounge about for the rest of the day. The rooftop sundeck with its refreshing plunge pool began to tempt me as the sweltering rays became too much to handle.

DJs and live performances playing the latest genres of house music entertained my inner child and I found myself tapping a foot or two to the “just right” sound levels emanating  as far as the suite balconies during both sun worshipping and evening hours.

117 rooms overlook Talamanca bay, Ibiza’s iconic old town and the harbour offering superb sunsets and sunrises over the Mediterranean Sea.

The hotel has an a la carte restaurant offering health conscious and Italian influenced dishes. Breakfast served until 12pm ideally caters to sleep deprived party goers.

My eyes lit up when I discovered that my superior suite allowed me access to a smart car proving pricelessly useful. Flexibility on the cards gave me options to see the best hidden beaches, beach clubs such as the breath taking Sunset Ashram, and exclusive clubs such as Pasha, Ushuaia and the newly opened Hi Ibiza.

The airport is a 10km drive offering peace of mind for those forgiven for wanting to economise on making the most of their time in Ibiza.

OD Talamanca overall is ideal for luxury, leisure, business and hosting events. The customer services manager Hajar Allouche made the experience unforgettable with her helpful and friendly manner.

Ibiza, Ibiza, Ibiza. No, it’s not just a party place. There’s something for everyone. I now understand the hoo ha and I will be back.
