A season of warmth: luxurious hygge living this Autumn

If you want to enjoy the autumn and winter months like a pro, consider embracing hygge. This dreamy Danish-inspired concept helps to evoke a sense of cosiness and comfort, which makes dark, cold days feel warm, inviting and gloriously snuggly.

Hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”) is all about slowing down, savouring the simple pleasures
and turning your home into a wholesome, Instgramable haven.
At 7*Life we are rather obsessed with this cozy concept and have thought of several ways you can bring hygge into your life this year.

Make your space feel cosy

First things first, it’s important that your space feels comfy and cosy.
Lighting plays a huge part in this, so embrace candles, soft lamps and warm bulbs rather
than harsh overhead lights.
Layering textures is also important. Use thick throws, plush rugs and soft cushions to create an inviting atmosphere.

It’s also worth incorporating warm colours into your interior, such as burnt orange, gold,
green and brown to soften the look of your space.
Even small décor changes like adding indoor plants or wooden accents can help you feel
more connected to nature while you’re cosy at home.

Enjoy activities indoors

When it’s too chilly to be outside, hygge prompts you to find pleasure in simple indoor
moments. For example, you could get stuck into a good book with a hot drink. Try puzzles or jigsaws in your living room. Listen to music you love or discover new playlists that create a pleasant ambience.

If you like arts and crafts, you could try knitting a blanket, painting or even making your own candles.
Other options include baking tasty treats, practising yoga or playing online games like bingo 75.

Prioritise keeping warm

Hygge is all about feeling warm and comfortable, so prioritise keeping snug during the
autumn and winter when possible.
Heated throws or wearable blankets are brilliant for lounging without turning up the central heating. You can also layer up with long socks, cosy jumpers and even thermal base layers during chilly days.

The Energy Saving Trust offers several tips for keeping your house warm, including draught proofing and using reflective radiator panels.

Embrace seasonal moments with loved ones

Slowing down and making memories with loved ones is another key aspect of hygge.
You could carve pumpkins together, bake spiced treats or make autumnal wreaths.
If you want to venture outside, try woodland walks when the leaves are falling, explore winter markets, go ice-skating or visit lighted trails to enjoy that seasonal sparkle.

By embracing hygge, you can make cold and dark days something to enjoy rather than
endure.

Netflix and Chill under fluffy duvets with steaming cups of pumpkin spiced latte and warm buttery popcorn anyone?
