BBQ tapas comes to London Fields

Right by London Fields, in the reclusive industrial estate found off the beaten track, you’ll find the Institute of Light. This is the new home to BA.RN – an awesome new BBQ tapas joint that has got to be one of the best new places to eat in this summer. Except you’ll be eating out, as it’s all about al fresco dining.

You’ll find yourself seated bedside Brazilian chef Leon Borja, owner of Harley Dogs, and his team in the outdoor kitchen where they cook delicious soul food infused with charcoal and wood. Leon was inspired by his grandma in cooking and the farmer’s way of living, which led him to creating his own ingredients, like sausages, and knocking up simple, no fuss, super tasty food.

And as well as flavour, presentation is also on point. When the chicken wings (oh man, those chicken wings) are brought over and the lid covering them is removed you’ll feel like Henry VIII in a banquet, eyes bulging, licking your lips. Those wings are seriously good. Crispy skin, and the right level of heat and smokiness. Drizzle some of that lime wedge over it and it’s perfection.
Being as Harley Dogs are Leon’s specialty, we had to try the hot dogs. They’re loaded and they’re messy, but then proper hot dogs should be. The main thing is they’re damn goooood. The mutton softshell taco is also a triumph. Wonderfully cooked, beautifully presented and loaded with flavours.

Summer is all about barbecues and that’s what BA.RN is all about. Get yourself over here, seriously. You won’t be disappointed.
