Immerse yourself in luxury at The Montcalm Royal London House

Nestled within the city’s suave Finsbury Square resides one of London’s newest 5 star hotels – the Montcalm Royal London House.

I stayed at this urban haven with a glamour-loving French friend known for her exquisite taste in luxury hotels and fine Champagne – perfect because upon entering our stylish suite a tempting bottle of Laurent Perrier was awaiting us alongside a plate of artisan chocolates and the shiniest fruit we had ever seen.

A regal king size bed complete with fluffy pillows and soft cotton bedding was shrouded in a warm pink glow from the changeable coloured lighting system. Two marble clad bathrooms featured an enticing bathtub and invigorating power shower – ideal for blasting away any residual sleepiness after a blissfuly long slumber.

Giant flat screen TVs graced the bedroom and separate lounge area, providing streaming services for those with Samsung mobiles, and a fondness for Netflix and Chill.

The Aviary rooftop bar and restaurant boasts breathtaking views of the city and is already becoming a hit with London sun worshipers seeking the joy of a gin and tonic under the bourgeoning rays of a brand spanking new summer.

The effortlessly cool Burdock restaurant has a buzzing Shoreditch vibe, yet maintains the slick sophistication you would expect from a luxury London hotel, serving experimental cocktails and modern British cuisine.

Chic rooftop bars and exciting restaurants aside, my favourite part of this glorious hotel by far is the wellness area, which features quite possibly the most glamorous swimming pool I have have ever laid eyes on.

Majestically surrounded by gold Versace decor, it lies gracefully opposite a fiercely bubbling jacuzzi (which I spent a ludicrous amount of time in) and features a massaging waterfall-style shower – perfect for blasting away the stresses of city life.

We were treated like pampered princesses during our stay, the courteous staff bending over backwards to please us – and our sugar cravings. We had spotted two smartly attired maids pushing a trolley of exciting looking red velvet cakes to some lucky guest in the morning and had shamelessly cooed all over them.

After a few energetic laps in the before mentioned glam pool and an hour wallowing about in the Jacuzzi, we returned to our plush suite to find two epic slices of the same cakes we had been salivating over earlier.

I’ve always said it’s the little things that make a hotel experience so enjoyable, and unapologetically fabulous Versace pools of course…
