Meet Bros – why is this Asian-style, halal London steakhouse so popular?

In the ever-expanding London food scene, it’s rare to find a concept as distinctive as Meet Bros — an Asian-style steakhouse offering halal-certified dishes with flair, flavour and a hearty dose of hospitality. Nestled just a few minutes from Paddington Station, this family-friendly gem fuses prime cuts of beef with Asian-inspired creativity, all served up in a warm, rustic space perfect for a relaxed yet memorable meal.

We visited on a lively evening with my wife Samira and our toddler Xavier in tow, and were instantly taken with the inviting atmosphere. The interior blends raw brickwork, ambient lighting and industrial accents with islamic artwork and warm wooden tones. It’s stylish but unpretentious, with a buzz in the air and the kind of genuine welcome that puts families immediately at ease.

The menu is entirely halal, which makes Meet Bros a real find for diners looking for something indulgent yet inclusive. As a concept, it’s refreshingly original — this isn’t just another steakhouse, nor is it a typical Asian-fusion eatery. It sits confidently in its own lane, where perfectly cooked meats meet spice, adventure and creative twists.

We began with a round of starters designed to share, though they were so moreish we quickly wished we’d ordered double. The Crispy Calamari, with its golden spiced coating and chilli aioli, were light, crunchy and impossible not to reach for. The BBQ Beef Nachos, meanwhile, were piled high with creamy guacamole, tangy jalapeños and generous chunks of beef — a messy, satisfying must-order.

The Pulled Crispy Duck arrived as a DIY crepe platter with soft pancakes, fresh cucumber and spring onion, glossy hoisin sauce and a drizzle of chilli oil. It was playful and indulgent — a standout for Samira and a new favourite for Xavier, who loved nibbling the soft crepes and cucumber sticks.

But the surprise hit was the Asian Style Guacamole — a stunning blend of avocado, fried shallots, chilli tomato salsa and calamansi, served with cassava chips. Fresh, vibrant and layered in flavour, it captured the spirit of the menu perfectly: comfort food elevated with flair.

For mains, I chose the Premium Grassfed Ribeye, one of the standout options on the steak list. Cooked medium-rare and simply seasoned with sea salt and cracked black pepper, it was beautifully charred on the outside, juicy within, and full of buttery depth. You can also opt for the house-made Meet Bros marinade, but the quality of the meat speaks for itself.

Samira went for the Asian Style Carbonara, a creative, chilli-kissed reimagining of the Italian classic. The sauce — made with evaporated milk, curry leaves and bird’s eye chilli — clung to the spaghetti beautifully, and the crispy chicken tempura on top added crunch and fun. She raved about the balance of spice and creaminess — rich but not heavy, and incredibly moreish.

Despite already being full, the dessert menu was far too tempting to resist. We shared the Chocolate Fondant, which arrived warm and perfectly oozy, the molten centre spilling into a pool of raspberry coulis and paired with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Every bite was rich, smooth and indulgent.

We also ordered the Fried Banana Fritters, which were a delightful surprise. Wrapped in crisp kataifi pastry, the warm banana was sweetened with palm sugar, topped with candied nuts, and served with more of that silky vanilla bean ice cream. It was comfort food through an Asian lens — and the perfect way to end the evening.

To complement the bold and flavourful dishes, Meet Bros also boasts an impressive drinks menu that’s every bit as creative and vibrant as the food. Their selection of mocktails and coolers is particularly standout, offering refreshing, alcohol-free concoctions that are as fun as they are flavourful. The Lychee Mojito, with palm sugar, lime, and fresh mint, was a hit at our table, while the Passionita — a tropical mix of passion fruit, pineapple juice, rosemary, and forest honey — delivered a zesty, herbaceous punch. For something visually striking, the Violet Sunset, with grapefruit, thyme, and pineapple, is as Instagram-worthy as it is delicious. There are also icy blended coolers like the Watermelon Lychee and Apple Mint, perfect for a summer evening.

For those with a sweet tooth, the thick shakes are indulgent and fun — from the rich Avocado Nutella to the playful Milo Dinosaur and date-packed Medjoul Majesty, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re after something fruity, fizzy, creamy or cool, the drinks menu here adds another layer of excitement to an already unforgettable dining experience.

Throughout dinner, the service was kind and attentive, especially toward Xavier, who was kept happily entertained with smiles and the ornate, delightfully mysterious surroundings.

Meet Bros isn’t just another steakhouse — it’s a bold and original concept that fuses premium halal ingredients with global flavours and a deeply welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re coming for the sizzling ribeye, spicy carbonara or creative desserts, this is a Paddington spot well worth adding to your favourites list. We’ll be back — and next time, we’re definitely saving more room for dessert.
