From the moment we arrived at Fort Young, we were enveloped by the warm and hospitable nature of the staff, who are are not only attentive and well-trained, but also passionate about sharing their love for the island with their guests. The accommodations at Fort Young cater to all tastes and budgets, offering oceanfront rooms and suites with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. Our sea view room was tastefully decorated with contemporary furnishings and local artwork, creating an atmosphere of understated elegance with a nautical theme. The hotel’s facilities, including a full-service spa, fitness center, and freshwater pool overlooking the ocean, ensure that guests have everything they need for a comfortable and rejuvenating stay.

After speaking with the friendly hotel manager, we learnt that Fort Young will be completing an extensive renovation at the end of September that will see the addition of 60 new rooms, bringing the total number of rooms in the hotel to 100. We were told that a glamorous new reception area would be created as will an inviting rum cellar and art gallery showcasing some of the historical features of the original fort building. This will include centuries old stone walls and an ancient bread oven.

In addition to all these fabulous new additions there will be a brand spanking new courtyard lounge and bar, as well as a separate chic café with talented baristas serving organic coffees.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be pleased to discover that Fort Young will be bolstering its already robust scuba diving offering with the delivery of two new dive boats. The hotel already offers complimentary, unlimited shore diving for qualified divers. We can’t wait to return to try our hand at Snuba (a cross between snorkelling and scuba diving) – perfect for non-divers like us, those who may wish to learn to dive in the future, or for younger family members.
