Roka is the second of Rainer Becker’s hugely successful line of Japenese restaurants. Like his other two restaurants which are located in Fitzrovia and Hong Kong, the Canary Wharf chapter specialises in robatayaki, a contemporary Japanese style of BBQ.

Recommended at Roka is their tasting menu, which costs £55 per person, for a minimum of two people. This will give you an option to try some of the seasonal favourites on offer, which currently includes dishes such as baechu kim chi (napa cabbage, garlic and hot chilli), gyuniku to goma no gyoza (beef, ginger and sesame dumplings), and hinadori no lemon miso yaki (cedar roast baby chicken, chilli, lemon and garlic soy). Standard menus, both for the sushi and sashimi, and for the robata, are also available.

The restaurant is decorated in light-toned wood and chic furniture, giving the restaurant a contemporary yet at the same time a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant also has a terrace for al fresco dining which offers a fantastic view over Canada Square, while the indoor sports bar serves a range of international beers and wines, cocktails and a collection of shochu infusions. Meanwhile the chef’s table, which is located alongside the robata grill, allows guests to drink in the atmosphere of the restaurant and watch the chefs at work.

One event that the restaurant has become particularly famous for is its all-you-can-eat (and drink) sushi weekend brunch which features three menu options, starting from £42 and increasing up to £66. All three options include the sushi buffet, the difference in price is based on the drinks ordered and the options for mains. The boozy Brunch is served from 11:30am-3:30pm on Saturdays and 1:30am-8:00pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. To experience the rest of its menu, Roka is open daily: from 5:30pm in the evening for evening dining, and 11:30am-3:00pm on weekdays for lunch.
