See out the summer in Granary Square Brasserie’s Tropical Terrace

The bank holiday was a scorcher, breaking previous records for the hottest August bank holiday Monday ever. And with the good weather continuing this week, it’s a great time to get yourself over to Granary Square Brasserie in Kings Cross. They’ve collaborated with Jamaican coconut rum, Koko Kanu and transformed their terrace into a tropical paradise. Until Sunday 1st September guests and sun-worshippers will be transported to an exotic tropical island with a striking installation and archway featuring luscious palm trees and pink hummingbirds, as well as a series of limited-edition cocktails and weekend brunch events.

The restaurant’s outdoor terrace may offer a tropical taste of paradise thanks to its colourful display and leafy foliage exterior, but the real taste comes in the four specially created exclusive cocktails, which I would highly recommend you sampling and enjoying this week.

The delicious concoctions include ‘Golden Hour’, featuring Koko Kanu, Amaretto, lemon juice, and orange juice, topped with a splash of grenadine – amazing combination of flavours by the way, and the ‘Koko Blue’, which is made with Koko Kanu, Blue Curacao, coconut syrup, lime and pineapple juice – another sublime summer cocktail.

Also available will be the ‘Granary Square Cooler’ featuring Vodka, Koko Kanu, cranberry juice and seasonal muddled berries, and an elegant ‘Proseccolada’ cocktail with Koko Kanu, Sake, pineapple juice, coconut water, sugar and prosecco to finish.

Open all day, the brasserie’s al fresco terrace allows guests and passers-by to enjoy cocktails, lunch or dinner in the sunshine throughout the summer. If you’re hungry then you’re well and truly spoilt with the restaurant’s mouthwatering menu. I had the excellent roasted lamb rump, with asparagus, creamed potato and a morel cream sauce.

More of a sweet-toothed kinda person? Then you’ll love the limited-edition dessert menu item: the ‘Coconut Panna Cotta’! This indulgent and refreshing Caribbean sweet treat is made with pineapple carpaccio, coconut, chilli and lime zest for that cheeky little kick on the finish.

Granary Square Brasserie’s Tropical Terrace and their limited edition Koko Kanu cocktails will be available daily until Sunday, so if you’re missing Notting Hill Carnival already, set the Caribbean beat to the weekend right here and see out the summer in style.
