Upgrade your cheeky chicken night to Cocotte

Cocotte – like many others this year – were due to open their newest farm-to-table chicken rotisserie restaurant in March, the week we all went into lockdown. The Parsons Green joint is their third site, following Cocotte Notting Hill and Cocotte Shoreditch. After finally opening their doors to the public recently, I ventured to the leafy location on New Kings Road to get my chicken fill and was pleased to see the place was busy; they open at 8am for breakfast through to dinner and can accommodate 50 diners.

I was here for dinner and already knew what I was getting upon arrival. It’s hard not to really since they only serve free-range chicken in whole, half or quarter sizes (cue canned laughter). Rubbish jokes aside though, the birds are brought over from Evron, Pays de la Loire, France and slow cooked on the rotisserie. They’re marinated in a secret blend of herbs and spices for 24-hours beforehand too, so the flavours are locked in. It’s a signature dish, which they smash out of the ball park. The marinade is so good and the quality of the chicken is really evident.

Alongside the core offering, the menu features new starters such as croquettes, as well as sharing artisanal cheese and charcuterie boards. As well as the new additions, guests can expect twists on the familiar with revamped sides and salads sitting alongside firm favourites, all perfectly complementing Cocotte’s signature slow roasted chicken. If you’re going in for a starter, I’d highly recommend the Chicken Soup. It’s an amazing 8-hour broth based on grandmother’s recipe. Whose grandmother that is, I don’t know, but one thing I know for sure is that this chicken soup could well be the best I’ve ever had. So thank you grandma.

Cocotte does well to cater to a number of diets including vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free. For those visiting for lunch, the popular Cheeky Box, which is available at both Notting Hill and Shoreditch, will also be on the menu at Parsons Green.

There’s a new breakfast menu too, which includes organic coffee, a fresh juice bar, healthy options and signature dishes. For those looking for a longer and lazier start to the day, Cocotte’s innovative and much-loved brunch menu will be ready and waiting for you.

As well as the expanded food menu, Cocotte offer a thoughtfully curated drinks menu including their popular Spritzers and cocktails, which are perfect aperitifs, as well as French and international wines (let the knowledgeable staff recommend for you, if you get stuck). For those looking for something a little different, Cocotte Parsons Green offer Sassy Cider, Portobello Pilsner, a range of spirits, and organic soft drinks on its drinks menu as well.

The new restaurant’s spread over one floor and features consistent design elements that are familiar from Cocotte Notting Hill and Cocotte Shoreditch. Warm and contemporary interiors make for a light, bright and inviting space that’s perfect for an informal get-together with friends and family alike. As with the other restaurants, the rotisserie spit is front and centre within the restaurant spreading the enticing aroma of warm roasted chicken throughout the room.

The traditional rotisserie spit is the preferred method of cooking chicken in Michelin kitchens, so the Cocotte team certainly know what they’re doing and they’re doing it very well. The proof is right here in their third restaurant.
