I recently had the most magical wedding at the beautiful Villa Delenia nestled majestically on a cliff on the enchanting Greek Island of Evia.
Planning a destination wedding in only 6 weeks was incredibly stressful, but it was worth every hair-raising, stomach churning moment to marry the love of my life surrounded by loved ones in the most breathtaking location we had seen.
When planning the happiest day of your life, choosing the right photographer and videographer to capture your most blissful moments is essential, so our search was lengthy and meticulous. Our quest finally ended just two weeks before our wedding date when a friend of ours recommended Dimitris Alexandrakis – wedding photographer to the stars, and non famous people with exquisite taste….
We were impressed with how professional Dimitris and his team of two staff members were on our wedding day. They seemed to know all the best angles, areas of lighting and moments to capture.
A state of the art video camera and drone were also used to film our wedding at the stunning Villa Delenia from above – all turquoise waters, striking cliffs and pine tree covered mountains – a perfect recipe for mesmerising cinematography.
We were more than thrilled when we received our (extremely plentiful) images and video footage weeks after our fairytale ceremony. We were truly spoilt for choice with our photos which looked like they could have quite easily graced the glossy pages of Vogue.
When I returned to London, I couldn’t help but request an interview with the man who forever immortalised the celebration of our love so perfectly on film.
How did you start your journey into being a professional photographer?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by the magic of photography and its ability to stop time.
I began my photography studies in 1999, and was fascinated by the fundamentals of creating a truly unique photograph: lighting, shadows, composition and emotion. As a photographer, I capture all your magical moments through creative photos that will remain timeless.
What are the perks of the job?
Travelling to new places, meeting new people, living through unique moments in the happiest days of couple’s lives. Every wedding is a truly special experience and is priceless.
Describe the most extravagant wedding you have ever photographed
All of the following happened in a traditional Greek wedding. One of the most memorable weddings I have covered was when the groom forgot to pick up the wedding rings from the jewellery store. They finally brought them home and when the priest asked for them during the ceremony we found out he had forgotten them for a second time by leaving them at home. This all happened on the wedding day and created funny situations and strange reactions from the invited relatives and most important of all the bride who we tried to keep calm by doing everything we could. The ceremony continued whilst we waited for an hour until the wedding rings finally arrived and the ceremony continued with a happy ending
What inspires your creative talent as a photographer?
My mood for creating new images and my imagination for it is inexhaustible. I am fascinated by the sense of creation and the pleasure it offers. It is indescribable how I feel when I create something unique and almost magical with every click of the shutter to create a work of art. I capture emotions, moments, light and shadows. It is something innate and completely natural for me.
What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
Traveling, the feeling of freedom, getting to know new places new customs and traditions from different cultures – it is something that fills me with joy and satisfaction
What are your business plans for the future?
My team and I have achieved several goals already and are looking forward to the future. We plan to work in more in exotic destinations, to experience new cultures and create memorable images to cherish for a lifetime.
