Get yourself ready for a perfect bank holiday weekend

The UK’s got consecutive bank holidays coming up starting with the May Bank Holiday on 2nd May. This is followed in June with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which will see the UK enjoying a four-day weekend of celebrations to commemorate the Queen’s remarkable 70th year on the throne. We’ve rounded up everything you need to make these bank holidays the best ones yet, from female-owned Champagne brands to

Lapin Rouillé Champagne

Let’s start by raising a glass to the Queen and we’ll do so with the UK’s first black female-owned Champagne brand. Launched by Nichole Johnson, this Champagne is produced in a single estate vineyard in a small village outside of Reims in northern France. This region of France can be challenging for certain grape varieties so here they grow the frost-resistant Pinot Meunier. These grapes ripen and mature quickly and give the wine a vibrant and acidic flavour. Lapin Rouillé pays homage to Mrs. Hazel Lee Brown, the grandmother of founder Nichole Johnson.

Soho Street Cocktail

Soho Street Cocktail have come out with a fresh take on a classic cocktail – the Strawberry Daiquiri; an ideal cocktail to kick-start the summer with. With their taste-first approach to ingredients, using the freshest strawberry purée, Caribbean Rum, and lime juice, Soho Street Cocktail’s newest launch (alongside their other cocktails) comes in recyclable pouches and are NFC (Not From Concentrate).

Warner’s Distillery London Dry Gin

It’s well known that the Queen’s favourite alcoholic beverage is gin and she’s quite partial to a gin cocktail before lunch. With this in mind, Warner’s Distillery is a perfect choice. It uses fruit and botanicals from its farm in Northamptonshire to flavour its product suite. In addition to the botanicals pulled from its farm, Warner’s also works with local producers to re-purpose what would otherwise be discarded fruit peels. In fact, 100% of Warner’s London Dry gin citrus flavour now comes solely from discarded fresh peels! The spirit is even low calorie, making it the perfect tipple to enjoy leading up to summer.

Hug

We can’t forget about our four-legged friends over the bank holidays. Spoil them with Hug – a new type of pet food, which is human grade, only using the finest seasonal ingredients and British cuts of meat. Each portion contains super nutrients such as Antarctic Krill, the most effective ingredient to deliver omega-3 and choline, which are critical for brain and heart health, strong muscles, joints and help prevent liver disease – all topped off with a sprinkle of organic herbs. Simply take each dish from the fridge, pop it in the microwave or gently cook on the stove and serve warm – your furry four legged friend will love you forever.
