Club Med Kani has a certain energy to it. A good, youthful, fun vibe that’s felt the minute you step off the boat transfer and onto the pier. You’re greeted by friendly, smiling staff from all around the world who welcome you with a refreshing ice tea and a personal tour of the resort, which is 2km of sheer tropical paradise and private beaches.

Located on Kanifinolhu island in the North Atoll region of the Maldives, Kani successfully caters for families, couples and groups of all ages. Our three-night stay was in one of the Club Rooms towards the back of the island, which was nestled on its own private beach. This provided not only the perfect spot for some relaxing sunbathing, it was also great for wildlife spotting (baby reef sharks, herons, bats and an abundance of crustaceans) with access to the refreshing waters of the Indian Ocean right on your doorstep. What better way to start the day?

Of course, for the more active visitors, Club Med Kani host a number of aquatic activities, including daily skiing, scuba diving, surfing and sailing excursions. There’s also a football pitch, ping pong tables, volleyball and yoga to keep you occupied, just in case you’re more comfortable with land-based sports.

Being an all-inclusive resort, dining here is buffet-style, with cuisine from all around the world: India, China, Italy and Japan, to name a few. The food is good, with so many options making it difficult to choose, and the service is excellent. A barbecue was hosted on our penultimate night, with all guests and staff attending dressed in white. This again lent to the spirit of the place – laid back, yet exuding a fun aura.
