Festive feasts and NYE firework views at Southbank’s La Gamba

In the heart of London’s Southbank, nestled along the Thames, La Gamba stands as a beacon of Galician-inspired culinary excellence. As the festive season dawns, the renowned independent restaurant unveils a culinary journey that combines traditional Galician flavors with a dash of London’s vibrancy, creating an experience that transcends the ordinary. La Gamba’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve offerings promise to be a feast for the senses, blending delectable dishes with panoramic views of the Thames.

Christmas Feasting Extravaganza

Chef Juan Carbacos takes the helm, steering La Gamba’s culinary ship towards a Christmas Feast Menu designed for sharing, bringing friends and family together in a convivial atmosphere. Priced at £69 per person, the feast commences with a sumptuous platter of Wild Argentinian Gambas, prepared whole with garlic, chilli, and brandy, alongside Palourde Clams and artichokes bathing in a rich Albariño sauce.

The feast reaches its zenith with mains that epitomize Galician culinary prowess. The Paella de Marisco, a seafood paella brimming with prawns, clams, mussels, and squid, dazzles the palate. Alternatively, the Seasonal Whole Fish, caught fresh on the day, or the Slow-cooked Leg of Lamb with roast potatoes, chorizo, and sautéed seasonal vegetables, present an enticing array of choices.

Concluding the feast, La Gamba’s homemade desserts, the Burnt Casque cheesecake and Santiago tart with vanilla ice cream, cast a sweet spell over diners. For smaller groups, the Christmas Set-Tapas Menu, priced at £42 per person, offers an intimate experience featuring Croqueta Platter, Grass-fed Rib Eye, Iberico Secreto, and Torijja Carameliza.

Counting Down to the New Year on the Thames

With its prime location offering striking views of London’s New Year firework display, La Gamba has crafted an unforgettable New Year’s Eve experience. Priced at £225 per person, the package includes welcome drinks, a four-course dinner, live music, and a front-row seat to the fireworks extravaganza.

The carefully curated four-course meal features sharing mains such as Arroz de Marisco, a seafood rice with XL Madagascan prawn, tiger prawns, squid, and mussels. Seabass fillet with grilled asparagus and aubergine, and British Rib Eye steak served with chimichurri further elevate the dining experience.

Founder Jack Applebee expresses his excitement, stating, “Our Christmas and New Year’s Eve feasts will showcase favorite dishes that La Gamba’s customers have enjoyed this year, along with sharing dishes inspired by Galicia.” As La Gamba opens its doors to the festive season, it beckons patrons to partake in a gastronomic celebration that marries culinary finesse with the spirit of togetherness on the iconic Southbank.

For those seeking a visually and gastronomically mesmerising celebration, the initial release of 50 tickets is available on La Gamba’s website, with a second release imminent.
