Is Selina Camden London’s most appealing hotel to Gen Z?

Located between underground music venues, innovative museums and secluded places to eat, Selina Camden is a cultural hotspot with an ever-changing calendar of events, including a whole range of wellness activities. In this exclusive hotel review, we explore what makes Selina one of the fastest growing experiential hospitality brands.

Who is Selina?

Selina has become one of the world’s largest hospitality brands designed to address the modern day needs of millennial and Gen Z travellers, blending beautifully built accommodation with co-working, recreation, wellness and local experiences.

Founded in 2014 and custom-built for today’s nomadic traveller, Selina provides guests with a global infrastructure to seamlessly travel and work abroad. Each Selina property is designed in partnership with local artists, creators and tastemakers, breathing new life into existing buildings in interesting locations in 24 countries on six continents – from urban cities to remote beaches and jungles.

Gen Z

It’s clear from the get-go who Selina is targeting: millennials and Gen Z travellers. Appealing to a new generation of travellers means one thing – innovation. Selina’s approach is sustainable and sociable, and with its location in Chalk Farm, just a short stroll from Camden, the location certainly appeals, too.

With so many people caring more about their health these days and not wanting to break their workout routines while on their travels, Selina Camden offers free access to the Anytime Fitness Chalk Farm Gym for all guests who stay in Deluxe or Suite rooms, with an added possibility to buy a day pass for all other guests.

The other major draw for Selina Camden is its plant-based restaurant and music venue, Powerplant.

Plant Power

Selina Camden’s modern vegan/vegetarian restaurant, Powerplant previously offered a broad, plant-based cuisine, from cheeseburgers to avocado on toast. But thanks to the launch of a new menu this summer, the restaurant is now proud to present a contemporary take on Italian vegan and vegetarian dishes right in the centre of London’s most eccentric district.

Diners can now indulge in a wide range of authentic, meat-free Italian dishes including a selection of insalata and bruschetta, fresh pasta and pizza options, as well as a variety of delicious Italian desserts and signature cocktails.

The Seven Veggie Salad is a favourite of ours, boasting radish, shaved asparagus, shaved fennel, carrot, cucumber, lettuce, tarragon, basil and balsamic dressing.

As for the pasta dishes, we highly recommend either the Pumpkin and Sage Tortelloni, or the fresh Orecchiette with garlic and cherry tomato sauce, basil, mozzarella and a drizzle of basil oil.

Amenities

The rooms are flexible at Selina Camden, matching the brand’s cool, laidback vibe. From Private and Private Plus, to Private Shared and Shared, each option has been custom-built for today’s modern nomadic traveller.

There’s a fully equipped communal kitchen, which is great for meeting other like-minded individuals, while the co-working area is the home for digital nomads, creatives, change-makers and entrepreneurs from around the world. Here you can experience a diverse and international community, refresh your thinking, and tap into a brand new level of productivity in a comfortable workspace complete with high-speed WiFi, unlimited coffee, private phone booths and inspiring design.

Take a break from your screen with a yoga class or let your hair down and make new friends at the welcome drinks. Plus, if the weather’s good you can take advantage of the roof terrace (which is a must). Oh, and did we mention the hotel is pet-friendly?
