Jazz nights and Diwali delights at Kahani: A feast for the senses

London’s culinary scene is constantly evolving, and Kahani, the contemporary Indian restaurant nestled near Sloane Square, has been at the forefront of this gastronomic revolution. Not content with simply offering some of the finest Indian cuisine in the city, Kahani has upped the ante by introducing weekly jazz nights and a special Diwali menu, ensuring an unforgettable experience for diners.

The Jazz Dynamos, renowned for their performances at iconic venues like Ronnie Scott’s, have taken center stage at Kahani, making Thursday evenings even more special. The sweet sounds of the 70s and 80s guilty pop pleasures, along with swing and Latino classics, create the perfect backdrop for a night of exquisite dining. The ambiance becomes a symphony of flavours and melodies, a unique fusion of jazz and Indian culinary artistry.

Starting from the 5th of October, guests can indulge in these complimentary jazz nights while savoring the culinary creations of Michelin-starred chef Peter Joseph. To mark the occasion, Chef Joseph has crafted a special Jazz Set Menu, a culinary journey that promises to tantalize the taste buds.

The four-course feast begins with an irresistible Lychee Bellini, setting the tone for an extraordinary evening. The meal commences with grilled scallops, presented with red peppers and a sesame blend in a coconut and curry leaf sauce. This dish is a perfect representation of Kahani’s commitment to blending traditional Indian flavours with contemporary flair.

The journey continues with a second course, featuring Hyderabadi chicken and a succulent lamb seekh kebab. The interplay of spices and textures in these dishes is a testament to Chef Joseph’s culinary expertise, creating a harmony of flavors that is simply delightful.

The main courses are equally impressive, with Tawa Murgh, a chicken tikka tossed with red onion, peppers, and freshly ground spices, stealing the show. The Bhuna Gosht, a dish of tender lamb with dried lemon, shallots, ginger, and garam masala, offers an exquisite blend of aromatic spices. Complemented by cumin pulao, cheese chilly naan, and yellow dal tadka, these dishes create a symphony of flavors that delight the senses.

To conclude this culinary masterpiece, dessert arrives in the form of braised carrot fudge with cardamom and pistachio, alongside a refreshing coconut sorbet. The sweet and savory balance is a fitting conclusion to a meal that embodies the art of fine dining.

These jazz nights at Kahani, held each Thursday in October and November, are a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to offering more than just a meal. It’s an unforgettable evening of incredible talent alongside even better food, a harmonious blend of cultural experiences that encapsulate the essence of Kahani.

In addition to these Jazz Nights, Kahani is also celebrating the Indian festival of Diwali with a special menu. From the 10th to the 12th of November, Chef Peter Joseph invites you to join in the festivities with a curated four-course menu that is the epitome of a Diwali spread.

The menu features a delectable array of dishes, starting with berry papdi chaat, paneer tikka, and tandoor lamb chops, all served with dal, naan, and rice. The flavour profiles and aromas are a testament to Kahani’s commitment to traditional Indian culinary excellence.

To finish off your Diwali celebration, indulge in a baked cheesecake with raspberry coulis or a kulfi platter, offering a sweet note to conclude this extraordinary feast.

Kahani’s Diwali menu is a tribute to the festival of lights, offering not only a culinary experience but also a cultural celebration. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the sweet sounds of jazz or indulge in the rich flavors of Diwali, Kahani offers a feast for the senses that is not to be missed.
