Sticks’n’Sushi opens eighth London restaurant in Westfield White City

There’s nothing I love more than a new London restaurant opening involving sushi, so when I was invited to try the new Sticks’n’Sushi Danish/Japanese fusion restaurant at Westfield White City I almost let out a yelp of glee.

The eighth London opening from the Danish owned, Japanese restaurant group, Sticks’n’Sushi White City also marks the company’s 10th year in the UK.  Located at the main entrance of Westfield and graciously set across two, beautifully designed floors, this brand spanking new eatery draws inspiration from both Japanese minimalism and Danish hygge, known as Japandi, to create a warm and welcoming space perfect for cozy dinners for couples or lunches with the girls after long shopping-filled mornings.

Views of the elegant open kitchen and bar greeted my wife and I as we arrived, with the first floor showcasing a design inspired by domestic-chic Scandinavian living with calming white clay coloured walls and low seating.

The Scandinavian focus on natural materials such as wood, stone, linen and leather, evoked a homely, escapist feel – delightfully juxtaposed with the bustling energy of one of London’s largest and busiest shopping centre outside.

Carpe Diem – the sharing menu you won’t want to share….

The eye-catching menu presented to us came complete with enticing images of the food – a plethora of decadent dishes perfect for sharing (and Instagramming). They included traditional, beautifully presented sushi and yakitori sticks from the grill as well as guest favourites such as the much-loved ‘Ebi Bites’ and popular ‘Hotate Kataifi’ – made with scallops, miso aioli and trout roe.

We loved how there was set menus for groups featuring sumptuous selections of various sharing plates such as the easy on the eye Carpe Diem.

Sticky skewers of happiness

All of these glorious dishes were washed down with zesty non-alcoholic cocktails – a mango and lime creation that was quite frankly incredible and a raspberry mojito topped with lashings of fresh lime leaves and ice – who said dry January had to be actually dry?

With tummies too full and satisfied for dessert we rolled out of the restaurant happy and mentally planning our next visit.
