Where to spend Valentine’s Day in London

Valentine’s Day is now less than a week away. With 2019 in full swing already, we’re seeing red roses flourishing in florists and heart-shaped chocolates filling our shop shelves. And to set hearts racing, love is well and truly in the air at Royal Lancaster London. The iconic London hotel is the perfect place to spoil your loved one this year: with breathtaking views of Hyde Park, prime location in the city, stylish chic decor and brilliant food with excellent service, it is unrivalled in my Valentine’s Day choice this year. Plus, with them offering two extra special Valentine’s Day Packages for a very luxurious romantic break, it’s set up for a memorable experience.

The plush decor offer throwbacks to New York chic with Italian designer touches adding style and glamour. Indeed, the hotel was actually the setting for filming of The Italian Job with Michael Caine! Rooms are exceptional. Contemporary, yet offering class from a different era. Electric powered blinds and a luxurious bed provide a perfect night’s respite, while a large walk-in overhead shower and large separate bath will refresh you in the morning. And with being Valentine’s Day next week of course, why not treat yourself – and more importantly your other half – to something very special.

The Love is Suite package in a stunning Park Suite is a truly special getaway overlooking the romantic Italian Gardens of neighbouring Hyde Park; perfect for a romantic stroll.
Inside their Park Suite, guests will receive a complimentary bottle of Champagne with a delicious chocolate treat and a beautiful bouquet of traditional red roses to take home. Plus, an indulgent Champagne Afternoon Tea for two awaits in Park Restaurant, truly inspired by the most romantic day of the year.

The next morning, guests can make the most of a late 1pm check-out with a leisurely breakfast in their king-size bed or alternatively enjoy a lavish buffet breakfast in Park Restaurant with stunning views of Hyde Park, before walking to nearby Oxford Street to spend their £200 Selfridges voucher on something very special. The package is priced at £1475 (inc VAT) based on two people sharing.

The Room for Romance package includes an overnight stay in one of the beautifully-appointed guest rooms (from a Classic Room to a Spires Suite) with a buffet breakfast enjoyed either in bed or in Park Restaurant with fantastic Hyde Park views and a late check-out of 1pm. Guests will be treated to a bottle of Champagne upon arrival and a delicious chocolate delicacy, best enjoyed whilst taking in the iconic views of the London skyline from the window. The package is priced from £355 (inc VAT) based on two people sharing.

Wondering where to eat? Look no further than the hotel’s Island Grill. Its setting is romantic and offers a snapshot into London life passing by outside. The steak here is simply superb. Beautifully cooked and oozing juicy flavour, it’s a meat lovers paradise. The tuna steak, meanwhile, is wonderfully presented (the colour of the lightly seared fish is gorgeous) and delicious in its delicate flavour. Top tip: go for a romantic cocktail at the bar upstairs before your dinner. I’d highly recommend the Naughty Squirrel.

The romantic packages will be available from Thursday 14 February until Sunday 17 February 2019. Located opposite Hyde Park, one of the most beautiful parks in England, there is no better place to spend Valentine’s Day than Royal Lancaster London. Plus, with easy access to the shopping districts of Oxford Street and Bond Street, it’s the best option for engagement ring shopping 😉
