Stepping into Mediterranean Grill by Assembly, the new dining jewel of Harrods, is like entering a sophisticated yet welcoming haven, perfectly blending luxury with comfort. My wife, our five-month-old son Xavier, and I recently had the pleasure of dining here for dinner, and the experience was nothing short of remarkable.

As we arrived, we were immediately struck by the stylish and contemporary decor. Assembly’s ambiance is a masterful mix of modern elegance and warmth, with plush seating and artful lighting that creates an inviting atmosphere. Despite fabulous pomp, the staff made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. The hostess greeted us with a genuine smile, and within minutes, we were escorted to our table.

The menu at Assembly is a celebration of Mediterranean fine dining with a modern twist. Executive Chef’s innovative approach to classic dishes was evident in every bite. We began our culinary journey with a selection of appetizers: the seared scallops with cauliflower purée and truffle oil, and the burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes and basil. The scallops were cooked to perfection, with a delicate sear that enhanced their natural sweetness, while the burrata was incredibly creamy, complementing the vibrant flavors of the tomatoes and basil.

For the main course, my wife chose the pan-roasted sea bass, accompanied by a medley of seasonal vegetables and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. The fish was flaky and tender, with a crispy skin that added a delightful texture. The vegetables were fresh and flavorful, and the sauce provided a perfect balance of richness and acidity. I opted for the fillet of beef, served with truffle mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and a red wine jus. The beef was succulent and cooked exactly to my liking, while the truffle mashed potatoes were a luxurious indulgence that paired beautifully with the robust jus.

Throughout the meal, Xavier was comfortably nestled in his high chair, occasionally cooing in appreciation of the ambient music that softly filled the air. The staff’s attentiveness to our needs, especially with a baby in tow, was commendable. They were patient and accommodating, ensuring that we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

As we reached the dessert course, we were presented with a delightful dilemma—everything on the menu sounded irresistible. After some deliberation, we decided on the dark chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream and the lemon tart with raspberry coulis. The chocolate fondant was a decadent delight, with a molten center that oozed rich, velvety chocolate, perfectly complemented by the smooth vanilla ice cream. The lemon tart was a refreshing contrast, with a crisp pastry shell and a tangy lemon filling that was beautifully balanced by the sweetness of the raspberry coulis.

What truly set Assembly apart was not just the exceptional quality of the food, but the professionalism and kindness of the staff. From the attentive servers who ensured our glasses were never empty, to the knowledgeable sommelier who recommended a splendid wine pairing, every aspect of the service was impeccable. They even took the time to engage with Xavier, making funny faces and engaging with him, which added a personal touch that made us feel truly special.

Our dinner at Assembly was an exquisite experience that exceeded all expectations. The combination of outstanding cuisine, a beautifully designed space, and top-notch service makes it a standout addition to Harrods’ dining offerings. We left with satisfied palates, warm hearts, and a baby boy who seemed quite content with one of his first fine dining adventures.
