Sky Garden, London

The Sky Garden is one of London’s most exciting and unique leisure spaces. Occupying the upper floors of one of the city’s iconic buildings at 20 Fenchurch Street (also known as the Walkie Talkie), it comprises a series of horticultural gardens exquisitely laid out over three-storeys. The Sky Garden also boasts panoramic views of London’s skyline, along with several exciting dining establishments and an exclusive events space.

The Sky Garden was designed by award-winning landscape architects Gillespies and houses Mediterranean and South African plant species that withstand heat and are well-adapted to the particular lighting conditions found in the building. Amongst the terraces of carefully arranged plants and herbs, the African Lily, Red Hot Poker and Bird of Paradise varieties are particularly visually-striking. On the 37th floor, a public terrace offers visitors stunning 360 degree views over the city, particularly breath taking at sunrise or sunset. The Sky Garden is accessible to the public free of charge, but space is fairly limited so it is necessary to reserve tickets online in advance.

Once you’ve had your fill of the gardens and the view, there are several exciting eating and drinking options worth a visit. Fenchurch restaurant, in particular, is fast becoming one of London’s most memorable dining venues. The landscaped gardens, plush furnishings, seafood bar and stunning views lend a true air of elegance. The restaurant focuses on modern British food, serving a wide variety of beautifully-presented meat, fish, and seasonal game dishes, as well as several innovative vegetarian options. Alternatively, Darwin Brasserie offers guests a more laid-back dining experience. The minimalist decor allows the food and the view to take centre-stage. The brasserie serves food all day and seasonal, locally-sourced produce is emphasised throughout the menu. Finally, the Skypod bar offers the best view of all, which you can soak up whilst enjoying a beverage from the impressive cocktail list.

The Sky Garden also accommodates private diners in the sophisticated Viñoly Room which can seat up to sixteen. The entire venue can be hired out for parties, events and celebrations, accommodating up to 450 people. Whether you are looking to host an exclusive event, sample exquisite food or simply take in some mesmerising views over the capital, the Sky Garden is a truly unmissable attraction.
